Learn the Ins and Outs of a Vital Role
You asked, we listened—Board Liaison Workshop is back in person, with new sessions!
We scheduled this important opportunity in conjunction with Directors Conference, so plan on bringing your board members along. You’ll attend a mixture of special board liaison-focused sessions designed for you and your colleagues, plus you’ll attend Directors Conference general sessions. See our Agenda tab for more.
As a credit union board liaison, you have a wide variety of responsibilities, from coordinating the logistical details of board meetings, materials, communications and retreats, to helping ensure that your credit union’s board and governance structure are operating as effectively as possible. As the complexity of issues facing the leadership of credit unions grows each day, the job of a board liaison is becoming more and more vital.
This training will include interactive hypotheticals, small group exercises, best practice examples and tips from fellow board liaisons. You’ll also benefit from a helpful set of digital templates, including a draft board liaison job description and relevant guides and examples, to aid you and your credit union’s governance efforts.
From outlining the unique role and responsibilities of a board liaison to developing effective board packets, meeting agendas, committee charters, board portals, and more, this event will offer advice that’s practical and actionable.
We’ll cover:
- Key Responsibilities
- Board Governance
- Compliance and Regulations
- Board Succession Planning
- Effective Meeting Strategies
- Strategy
This in-person workshop and the online version in August have totally different content, so plan on attending both! You can learn more about the online Board Liaison Workshop here.

The 7 Simple Habits of Inclusive Teams
Melissa Majors, Author, Keynote Speaker, Consultant & Coach, Melissa Majors Consulting
Inclusive leadership expert Melissa Majors is an innovator and optimizer of inclusion, leadership, and education strategies. In The 7 Habits of Inclusive Teams, she reveals how great leaders enjoy superior team performance and drive much higher profitability by incorporating inclusive practices. These behaviors fall into seven categories: Business Process, Collaboration, Mindset, Leading Self and Others, Decisions, Values, & Empathy. Majors delivers clarity on how our brains are to blame for why leaders unintentionally exclude others. Through storytelling, research, and personal experiences, she offers a common-sense yet compelling and actionable approach to inclusion. She argues that people shouldn't feel guilty or defensive when having inclusion-related conversations; the brain is to blame, not people. This session is for all leaders; leaders of self, people, initiatives, and organizations.

What’s clear, we have now catapulted toward a post digital transformation era. AI has forever changed the trajectory of business evolution, putting ‘business as usual’ in the rearview mirror. Leaders now face an entirely new set of prospects and challenges that will test their creativity, resilience, and vision. In this rousing keynote, world-renowned futurist and best-selling author Brian Solis will share why this is the moment for leaders to reimagine their organizations for an entirely new future.
