Execution: It's More than Simply Getting Things Done
Tony Moore, International Keynote Speaker, Author, and Executive Coach
Execution is one of the hallmarks of a great leader. However, execution is more than the ability to get things done. It is the discipline of ensuring the right things get done at the right time by the right people. Without this discipline, leaders find themselves in the weeds, serving as the primary decision-maker, and impeding efficiency. Regrettably, the discipline of execution eludes many leaders because of the challenge of transitioning from one who does the work to one who ensures work gets done through others. When leaders are promoted without proper preparation, they continue to rely on the skills, competencies, and approach to leadership that made them successful at the previous level. Unfortunately, as in the words of author Marshall Goldsmith, “What got you here, won’t get you there.”
Utilizing humorous lecture, real-life examples, small group discussions, and interactive exercises. This session will walk participants through a proven process to reverse the effects of promotion without preparation. Participants will depart with the tools needed to create a system of execution and reporting mechanisms that ensure the right things get done at the right time by the right people.
What you’ll learn:
- The symptoms of promotion without preparation and how to address them.
- The components needed to build a system of execution that ensures the right things get done at the right time by the right people.
- How to leverage a decision-making and communication matrix that supports a system of execution.
